V.P. Ganeshan was a Sri Lankan trade unionist, politician, film producer and actor.

V.P. Ganeshan is the founder of the Democratic Workers Congress and father of Mano Ganesan, a Sri Lankan politician and Member of Parliament.

He was the Sri Lankan equivalent of M.G. Ramachandran of Tamil Nadu.[citation needed] Ganeshan produced and acted in the lead roles in Pudhiya Kattru, Naan Ungal Thozhan and Naadu Pottra Vaazhgha. He was the only film-maker to produce three Tamil films in Sri Lanka and all of them were reasonable successes.[1]
