V2 Institute for the Unstable Media

V2_: 'Institute for the Unstable Media (generally abbreviated as V2_), is an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Founded in 1981, V2_ is an organization that concerns itself with research and development in the field of art and media technology.

V2_'s activities include organizing (public) presentations, research in its own media lab, publishing, developing an online archive and a shop offering products that are related to V2_'s area of interest. An artists-in-residence program allows foreign artists from Europe to work with technicians, scientists and assistants on research and realization of 'unstable media' projects. During their stay in Rotterdam, these artists can work on art projects in the V2_Lab. V2_ also organizes the annual Dutch Electronic Art Festival (DEAF), which gathers artists, curators and thinkers in exhibitions, workshops, seminars and evening programmes.
