The V-Gard is the name of a style of hard hat put out by MSA (Mine Safety Appliances). The shell of the V-Gard hat is made from polyethylene, and it has an internal shock-absorbing suspension system. The V-Gard is a Type 1 (top impact) helmet under the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements.
