The article states that he was born in 1976, then goes on to state that's a fake birthdate...what is this, Danny Almonte? 1ne 03:08, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

It's a reverse Danny Almonte. He listed as four years younger than he really is. His official biography skips his college career. He was named MVP of the 1994 MAAC baseball tournament. Unfortunately, the link his college web site died when they upgraded their site. By faking to be younger, he was able to get signed. - Tim 03:33, July 30, 2006
We need some outside corroboration, otherwise it's original research. --Beaker342 22:53, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
He already cited his outside corroboration. Unfortunately, the page is gone. 1ne 07:12, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Having a source doesn't make it not original research. In any case, the source doesn't exist any more. Preferably, we should find a newspaper article about it. Otherwise we are accusing MLB and Santos and everyone else of lying, which isn't what Wikipedia does. --Beaker342 16:17, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
"Having a source doesn't make it not original research." By that reasoning, everything is original research. I'm fully aware of what Wikipedia does from my 2.5+ years of experience. Here's your corroboration: [1] 1ne 07:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I edited the page so as to remove the speculated birth year of 1972. The link does show that he went to college, but doesn't say anything about his birth year, so it can hardly be used as evidence for a different birthday. I don't object to reporting the inconsistencies. I do object to pulling numbers out of thin air. How do we know it's not 1973? 1971? 1975? The answer is we don't. I'll note that similar allegations appear at the Pujols page, and others expressed similar concerns about original research. --Beaker342 15:50, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
