Václav Drobný (born September 9, 1980 in Mělník, Czech Republic) is a footballer and central defender currently playing for FC Augsburg.
Drobný was the captain of the Under-21 Czech Republic team and debuted for the senior team against Japan - though he failed to secure a spot in Euro 2004.
Drobný has also played for FK Jablonec nad Nisou 97 (on loan from Sparta) during the first half of the 2005/2006 season, RC Strasbourg, Chmel Blsany and Sparta Prague. He also spent the 2004/2005 season at English giants Aston Villa,[1] but left having failed to make a single first team appearance. In December 2003, Drobný tested positive for morphine; he successfully argued that it had come about from the use of the legal drug codeine.
