Václav Benda

Václav Benda (August 8, 1946 in Prague - June 2, 1999 in Prague) was a Czech left-wing and anticommunist politician.
During the communist rule in Czechoslovakia he signed Charter 77. He was imprisoned for his activities from 1979 to 1983. After the Velvet Revolution Benda co-founded Křesťanskodemokratická strana which later merged with the Civic Democratic Party.
His son Marek Benda is also a Czech politician and a member of the Civic Democratic Party.
