I'm proposing this article for deletion due to the fact that much of the content is identical to the article Uxbridge, Ontario. The municipal terminology differs somewhat and the municipalities are different corporate entities, but they share a name, history and territory, and there's little that you can say about one that you can't say about the other. Basically, it goes like this:

  • Uxbridge Township surveyed and created in the 1800s
  • Village, then Town of Uxbridge carved out of part of the Township in 1880s or thereabouts
  • In 1974, the Town, Township and another Township merged to create the Township of Uxbridge, which is the current muni.

Perhaps content can be added toUxbridge, Ontario to indicate that there was more than one municipality using that name. I've done this for two other area townships, namely Brock, Ontario and Scugog, Ontario. These are other cases (in the area) where a new muni took the name of one of the former munis amalgamated to create it. Thoughts? Blotto adrift 19:44, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Upon further reflection, decided to cancel request. Will try to rewrite article, remove duplicate material from both this and Uxbridge, Ontario articles - plan is to concentrate this on the town only, other on township and post-amalgamation muni. Blotto adrift 19:19, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
