Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma

Colonel Maharaja Raja Ramaraja Sri Patmanabha Dasa Vanchi Pala Martanda Varma III [Uthradom Tirunal], Kulasekhara Kiritapati Manney Sultan Bahadur, Shamsher Jang, Maharaja of Travancore (22 March 1922-) is the present titular Maharaja of Travancore since 1991. He succeeded his elder brother Maharaja Raja Ramaraja Sri Sir Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma at his death. Named Heir Apparent from birth, as per the Travancore matrilineal law of succession, he joined the firm of Plymouth and Company at Bangalore in 1952, working there as a clerk and truck driver until his succession. He is the Chief Scout of the regional Boy Scout troop, and is also a patron of local hospitals and charities.

He married the daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Krishnan Gopinath Pandalai, MB, CM, FRCS, LRCP, late IMS, sometime Supt. of the Government General Hospital, Madras, namely Radha Devi and has a son, Anantha Padmanabha Varma and a daughter, Parvati Devi.
