Uthamapalayam is a panchayat town in Theni district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census[1],Uthamapalayam(உத்தமபாளையம்), which is well known for is natural beauty and green fields. Is a taluk in theni district which stands second in the cultivation of paddy next to tanjore in tamilnadu. The kalatheswarar temple (lord siva), which stands today as one of India's cultural and architectural landmarks, was originally built before 600 years ago. . Uthamapalayam had a population of 22,871. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. Uthamapalayam has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: The literacy rate of male and female is 80 and 66% respectively. In Uthamapalayam, A government aided arts and science college which is being there for nearly 52 years. More than that the religious tolerance is prevails here, a brotherhood relation is exists between all Hindus, Muslims and Christians.
The town has surrounding small villages like ammapatti, ellapatti etc..The mullai river which flows down the bridge is a sight worthy of note.
