  • No, it's not. Unfortunately, I don't have the name of the big, multi-volume Arabic-English dictionary where I looked it up back in the '90s, but it's in Bobst Library at NYU. The name "Uthman" literally means (and I paraphrase from memory here), "baby bustard", "bustard hatchling", or, "small, young snake that will grow to be a great serpent".
