Utajärvi is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 3,263 (2003) and covers an area of 1,736.23 km² of which 63.67 km² is water. The population density is 2.0 inhabitants per km². The municipality is unilingually Finnish.

The municipaly is propably best known of the moraine region of Rokua, which is a popular summer and sports resort.

The popular rockgroup 22-Pistepirkko was formed in Utajärvi in 1980.
