[edit] Route description

From its southern terminus west of Eureka, SR-36 heads northwest until Vernon, where it turns north. It continues this general direction, eventually heading more to the northeast, until the northern terminus northeast of Stansbury Park.

[edit] History

At its formation in 1910, it went from SR-4 at Mills Junction to Tintic Junction. In 1912, this was changed from Tooele to St. John's. By 1925, the route went from St. John's to Tintic Junction. In 1953 it was officially defined by the Utah State Legislature as going from SR-4 to SR-26. In 1962, as a result of SR-4 being redesignated as SR-2, the legal definition was changed to reflect that. The year after, the route was legally reversed, running from SR-26 to SR-4. In 1975 the southern terminus was moved to SR-27 and a spur of SR-36 was deleted. By 1979, US-6 was designated the southern terminus. 1991 marked the year SR-67 was routed over the south leg of SR-36. In 1992, the 1979 designation was reverted. Two years later, the current designation was created, making two separate sections of SR-36 north of the southern terminus. [2]
