[edit] Route description

[edit] Heber City to Francis

SR-32 begins running north from the US-40/189 junction. It curves west to run along the southern edge of the Jordanelle Reservoir and provide access to Jordanelle State Park. It continues west to cross into Summit County and meets the western terminus of SR-35 in Francis.[1]

[edit] Francis to Wanship

In Francis, it turns more northerly and crosses SR-150 near Kamas. SR-32 runs through Marion and runs parallel to the Weber River between Oakley and Peoa. The route then travels along the western side of Rockport Lake and Rockport State Park before ending about one mile past an interchange with I-80 in Wanship.

[edit] History

SR-32 was originally constructed as part of US-189. In 1947, US-189 was moved onto a concurrency with US-40; the old routing became US-189 ALT. When I-80 was constructed, this routing was reversed. In 1990, the Jordanelle Reservoir dam was constructed, which led UDOT to truncate US-189 to Heber City; Wyoming, however, did not concur in the change, resulting in US-189 resuming there.[3]

The present SR-32 was commissioned in 1989 along the former routes US-189 and SR-35 from SR-87 in Duchesne County to Kamas. In 1990, it was rerouted to run from the current southern terminus to I-80 in Wanship. In 1991, it was extended to its current northern terminus.[2]
