[edit] Route description

From its western terminus at a cattle guard just west of the junction with Interstate 70, the highway maintains the same easterly direction through Elsinore. The route veers to the northeast before terminating at SR-118.

[edit] History

[edit] Previous route

When the prior version of SR-258 was created in 1957, it connected SR-11—now US-89A—to US-89. This designation was abolished in 1969.[2]

[edit] Current route

The same year the old route was deleted, a new SR-258 was formed. It went from SR-4, now Interstate 70, to SR-120 near Richfield. In 1987, a portion of SR-259 was annexed to SR-120 and the northern terminus was moved to SR-120 in Richfield.

In 1992, the current designation was created, changing the highway from south-north to west-east, the eastern terminus being moved to SR-118.[2]
