One of the most prominent Indian Classical vocalist Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan, belongs to the famous Rampur Sahaswan Gharana which owes its allegiance to Mian Tansen tradition. He is one of the few living legends of North Indian Classical vocal.
He was initiated into music at a tender age of nine by his father Late Ustad Ghulam Jafar Khan who was famous Sarangi Player of India.Later Ghulam Sadiq Khan continued his training under the worthy guidance of Late Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan a doyen of Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana and the first recipient of Padmabhushan Award in India.
Gifted with a sonorous and mellifluous voice, Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan specializes in Khayal style of North Indian Classical vocal which highlights the systematic badhat of Raga, intricate and graceful sapat tanas of full three octaves.Apart from Khayal he also sings Thumri, Dadra, Bhajans with equal ease.
Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan has performed extensively in India and abroad in countries like U.K.,Australia,Saudi Arabia,Oman, Mauritius,Singapore,Hong Kong,Indonesia,Thailand, China and Afghanistan etc.He is a'Top Graded' Artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan.
He has produced many 'Shagirds'(disciples) in Indian classical and Semi classical vocal. Few of them are very popular in recent times such as : 1. Jaspinder Narula ( a famous Bollywood Playback singer) 2. Ghulam Abbas Khan ( A famous Classical and Ghazal Vocalist)
Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan also worked as Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Music, University of Delhi.
In the year 2005 Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan received prestigious 'Padmashri Award' for his contribution to Indian Classical Music.
