USS Stingray (SS-161) is a fictional U.S. Navy diesel engine submarine featured in the 1996 comedy film Down Periscope. The Stingray was played by USS Pampanito (SS-383), a still-seaworthy World War II Balao-class submarine that is now a memorial and museum ship in San Francisco.
