I'm disappointed that several reviewers have voted to delete the references (links) to the USS WHIPPLE DD-217 that were added to the GREAT WHITE FLEET of the 1930's. The small number of survivors who served on one of the Four-Piper Destroyers during World War II is declining with each passing day.

I hope that Wikipedia will afford the families of those who served on these ships an opportunity to visit the referenced links in order to learn more about what the crewmates endured.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a collection of links. For that google is good enough. If you wrote something more about the ship and its history, then the links could be added as well. But the links alone do not make an article. Dori | Talk 18:08, Feb 27, 2004 (UTC)
