Wikipedia:Using Catholic Encyclopedia material
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Due to its public-domain status, the Catholic Encyclopedia can be incorporated into any work, including Wikipedia. When using the material two things should be considered :
- It was written in the first two decades of the Twentieth Century and many parts are dated
- It explicitly follows a Catholic point of view
Wikipedia articles which derive from a Catholic Encyclopedia article should bear this message:
- This article incorporates text from the public-domain Catholic Encyclopedia of 1913.
The message can be added by inserting {{catholic}} in the article.
Adding a parameter allows a link to the entry in Wikisource's Catholic Encyclopedia by inserting: {{Catholic|articlename}}
Where:
- articlename is the name of the article in 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia.
Example:
- {{Catholic|St. Oswin}} gives this: This article incorporates text from the entry St. Oswin in the public-domain Catholic Encyclopedia of 1913.
Some of the articles using this template can be seen here, while some with issues using the {{catholic-cleanup}} template can be seen here.
