Usaamah Abdullah Abdulghani Khayyaat was born in Mecca in 1954 and memorized the Qur’an at the hands of his father. He took knowledge from many of the scholars of hadith and received from them an ijaazah (religious teaching certification) in the six books. In 1997, Dr. Usaama bin Abdullah al Khayyat was appointed as an imam and khatib of the Sacred Mosque (Haram Sharif) in Mecca.
