USA Parkway

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

USA Parkway is a planned 4 lane divided highway being constructed between Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 50 in Nevada. It will connect to I-80 near Tracy Clark Station in Storey County, and will continue south to connect with US 50 at the Ramsey-Weeks Cutoff near Silver Springs in Lyon County. Formerly known as State Route 805, the road is being built privately by the owners of an industrial park.[1]

USA Parkway is being constructed to serve the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRI), a large industrial park being developed east of Reno. The completion of the 18 mile parkway is expected to cut one hour off the trip between Reno and Las Vegas.[1] In addition, USA Parkway will link TRI with Silver Springs Airport, providing access to convenient air-freight shipping.[2]

As of 2006, 4 miles of roadway are complete, with another 1.5 miles awaiting paving. The remaining 9 miles to the Story/Lyon county line have yet to be started.[2] A new USA Parkway interchange on I-80, replacing the former Tracy-Clark Station at exit 32, opened on January 21, 2008.

The tentative completion date is now being estimated as late 2009 to early 2010, depending on commercial and industrial expansion at TRI.
