  • Shield: Gules (brick red) a railroad track in bend Argent surmounted by a wing fesswise Or garnished of the field between in sinister chief a hurt fimbriated of the second charged with an anchor entwined with a rope all of the like in sinister base a truck wheel of the same, all within a diminished border of the third.
  • Crest: On a wreath of the colors Or and Gules an open book Argent bound Or, pages edged Gules, supporting a lamp of knowledge gold.
  • Motto: PER SCIENTIAM PROGREDIMUR (Through Learning We Progress).

[edit] Symbolism

The four charges of the shield allude to the four methods of transportation of the Corps: ship, rail, truck and air. Brick red and golden yellow are the Transportation Corps colors, and the lamp and book are symbols of knowledge.

The device was originally approved for the U.S. Army Transportation School on 8 Mar 1957. It was amended to revise the blazon of the shield on 5 Apr 1957. On 20 May 1974 the device was amended to correct the blazon of the shield.
