The U.S. Open Nine-Ball Championship is owned by Barry Behrman, the promoter. Women are not allowed to compete in the U.S. Open Nine-Ball Championship, as it is a men-only event.

However, the current WPBA has their own U.S. Open Championship, different format and different rules than the men's U.S. Open Nine-Ball Championship. Barry Behrman actually paid for and owns the rights to the "U.S. Open Nine-Ball Championship."
