What does the series 2006 mean? I assumed this was the date the bill was made but have since learned they came out in 2008. If 2006 is not the print date, is there a date any where on the new five dollar bill? tom
- The series doesn't necessarily reflect what date a bill is printed, it usually represents the last time any part of the bill was changed (eg, $1 bills printed in 2008 still say "Series 2006", the last time the treasurer on the bill was changed). However, I believe the new $5 is a bit of a mystery here, and the BEP has not offered an explanation (I could be wrong). --Mike (talk) 09:28, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
