New SVG image

U.S. states that have used the gas chamber as a form of capital punishment.

[edit] Color key

  • GREEN states once used the gas chamber, but don't anymore
  • TEAL states currently have the gas chamber as a secondary method of execution

Not on this map: (used in other images in series, see below)

  • BLACK states use ONLY this method
  • Dark RED states use this method as the PRIMARY method but have other secondary ones

[edit] Related images

I have tried to get some other forms of capital punishment in the U.S to have similar maps showing their usage (same color scheme). The first of these four was not created by me, though I did update it. The other three I created, based upon the first one:

  • Electrocution: US electric chair usage.png
  • Gas chamber: US gas chamber usage.png
  • Firing squad: US firing squad usage.png
  • Lethal injection: US lethal injection usage.png
