US66Bill is a retired public safety/law enforcement telecommunications maintenance supervisor. The moniker, us66bill, comes from having been born in a hospital, many, many years ago, located directly on The Mother Road, US Highway 66.

Bill is an amateur student of human nature, very interested in current events and their impact on the common person. He is a devoted family man with a large tribe of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is proud to be Papa and of his record as a good citizen of the United States of America, including combat military service, as his father, and other ancestors before him.

Bill is very concerned about the future welfare of his native country, having observed the hedonism, selfishness and cruelty of much of today's generation. The popularity of television "Reality" shows, Bill believes, does not bode well for the nation. The fact that our people actually enjoy watching others being humiliated in the name of entertainment, is disheartening to Bill. He sees, first hand, the lack of respect and courtesy shown by many of today's young people.

While Bill is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam, he has educated himself enough to know our country should never have been involved in that war. Had the people of Vietnam been allowed to settle their own affairs, the corrupt Saigon Regime would have faded away, and the country would have peacefully become communist. Hundreds of thousands of innocent lives would have been spared. Bill grieves for each and every one of his comrades lost. Bill recently returned to Vietnam to meet up with his son, who had been traveling in Asia for six weeks. The young man was intested in his father's recollections of the his battlefields of 40 years ago. It was a special trip for both. Bill found the Vietnamese people to be friendly and generally satisfied with their lot under communism. Most know nothing of any other way of life.

Bill has historically been a republican but plans to defect and become a whig. He does not know what whigs were but remembers them from high school history lessons and figures they must have been better than any party of today. Another indication of the decay of the American way of life is the sad state of the office of President of the United States. Bill Clinton cheapened the office by his sexual shenanigans in the oval office and George W. Bush should never have been in the oval office in the first place. However......If William Jefferson Clinton could run for president today, Bill would vote for Bill. His lapses aside, he has the knowledge and experience to lead the country. George W. Bush will go down in history as one of the worst presidents. Had he gone to Vietnam with the rest of us, he might have understood what a mistake Iraq would be.

In my humble opinion, George Herbert Walker Bush is a fine person who did the very best he could in the office of president. He may not be recorded in history as a significant president but being a good and caring human being counts for something. He and Barbara Bush must be heartbroken at the present state of affairs. I know I am.

This is who I am. I may be boring but I stay active and interested. I am pretty happy. I try to instill honesty and doing the right thing as Grand Poobah of this wonderful family of mine. To those of you shouting, "Geezer", may you be fortunate enough to become one someday. You could do much worse, and the way things are going, likely will.
