Uroš Lajovic (born July 4, 1944 in Ljubljana) graduated composition and conducting from the Music Academy of Ljubljana and received his master’s degree at the Music Academy in Vienna where he studied under the tuition of Hans Swarowski. Lajovic also attended master classes at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he studied with Bruno Maderna.

Mr. Lajovic was an assistant conductor (1972-1978) and chief conductor (1978-1991) of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, chief conductor of the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra (1979-1981), founder and conductor of the chamber orchestra Slovenicum in Ljubljana (since 1988), and was chief conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra from 2001 to 2006.

As a guest conductor, Lajovic conducted such orchestras as: Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Radio Orchestra, RIAS Sinfonietta, Radio Leipzig Orchestra, Suddeutscher Rundfunk Orchestra, Bach Kollegium Munich, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Moscow State Orchestra, Prague Philharmonics, RTV Katowize Orchestra, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Goettingen Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Uroš Lajovic has been teaching conducting at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna since 1990.

Lajovic was awarded numerous awards including the Vienna Music Academy Award (1971) and 2nd Prize Premio Guido Cantelli at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan.
