Hiya. Not sure if you'd rather I replied here or the link above, so feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place.

A couple of Raul's comments about the tools are slightly off. There are actually two components of the site were are/were written in Java: the tools, and a new search engine based on the Lucene search indexer, both of which are currently offline. Raul said [c]urrently, the developers are working very hard to make Kate's tool work with the open source implimentation and they already have a working prototype, but I think he's actually referring to the search engine here, which Brion is doing a bit of work on when he has a spare moment. AFAIK no-one is working on the tools.

As for not being driven away... I'm still here, but I don't have much motivation to work on software any more. I agree that the Foundation's policy on this is quite lamentable, and restrictions like that don't really create an environment I feel comfortable working in (particularly as a volunteer...). Hope that clears things up a bit. Kate.
