The Urcrustacean is the theoretical coancestor of the crustacean clade. The exact phylogeny of the crustacean subphylum is enigmatic and the identity of the Urcrustacea is debated, the two most common theories are Shram's remipede hypothesis and the phyllopodous hypothesis. Ur- is Greek for tail.
