My name is Rasmus Laursen. I live in Aabyhøj in the westerne Århus, Denmark, which is by the way not what the picture above is. I am a native Dane and have lived in Århus, Denmark most of my life. The schoolyear 2007-2008 I was on an foreign high school exchange student program through the organization YFU.

I am very interest in my home town Århus and love to read about it and see it develop to a competing level. By that I mean to get on the map. Therefor I always have a lot of ideas and plans for Århus to help it develop and grow.

I like to read and create articles about Århus and I think there can't be enough articles about the city.

[edit] S-Train in Århus

This article is fiction, as most danes proberly know. This is just my own personally idea of an future infrastructure in the city of Århus and the Eastjutland area.

S-tog The city counsil of Århus has through years now planned to build an Light rail in Århus to help develop the city. The plans are to lead out light-rail to town far away in the East Jutland Region. But instead of leading the light-rail that far out, it should instead only serve the municipality and then build S-train which works as a regional commuter train, to go all out in the East Jutland metropolitan area. The reasson to this is that the S-trains has a higher capacity, speed, and security than the light-rail. The light-rail would stretch out as far as the "third beltway", while the S-train reach as far as Grenaa, Skanderborg (with future expansion south), Silkeborg, Odder and Randers. The S-trains will help the region, which is by far the fastest growing in the country, develop and grow together.

[edit] Network

The network consists, like the Copenhagen S-train network, of a central section that splits into several radial lines at each end.

The southern radials are

  • Odderbanen
  • Skanderborgbanen
  • Vestbanen

The notheren radials are

  • Granaabanen
  • Nordbanen
  • Randersbanen

Instead of the radials are additionally connected by a ring line only running from north around City to south, there are a city circle line going from City and out in a loop to the suburbs.

  • Ringbanen (or) City Cirle Line

[edit] Services

Name Southern end Runs when Northern end
A all stops to Odder Nordbanen All week, all day Odderbanen all stops to Løgten
B all stops to Skanderborg Skanderborgbanen All week, all day Grenaabanen all stops to Grenaa
Bx terminates at Østbanegården Mon-fri, Rush hour Grenaabanen limited stops to Grenaa
C all stops to Silkeborg Vestbanen All week, all day Nordbanen all stops to Randers
E All stops Ringbanen All week, all day Ringbanen all stops

[edit] Induvidual Lines

[edit] Line A

The A line is a replacement for the poor allready excisting Odderbanen, which operates with old trains and serves small stops (Trinbræt). The A line is running every 20 minutes from about 5:00 to 1:00 every day. The line is going to run through City over Hovedbanegården and Østbanegården and then hiting north to Løgten to replace the Århus Nærbane. Both of the currently lines, Odderbanen and Århus Nærbane runs every 30 minnutes. The A-Line will run every 20 minutes. The line will have a future expansion, which is not necesary or afordable yet, over east to Tirstrup Airport.

[edit] Line B

The B line is a replacement for the curently commuter rail, Grenaabanen. The reasson the allready Grenaabanen needs to be replaced, is to upgrade the system. The currently network is served by poor and outdated trains. The B line is running every 20 minutes from about 5:00 to 1:00 every day. The line is going to run through City over Østbanegårdenand and Hovedbanegården then hidding south-west to Skanderborg, where there allready commuter a lot of people from each day. There will be a need for building new stations from Rosenhøj to Skanderborg.

[edit] Line Bx

The Bx Line is a Express line assisting the local B Line, running from Grenaa to Aarhus Østbanegård (lit. East Central Station) only stopping at majot stations. The Bx Line will only run at rush hour and only every 30 minutes.

[edit] Line E

The E line is a loop line or circle line, running through City and out into the western suburbs. It's running partly in same tracks as Grenaabanen, and Skanderborgbanen. It crosses vestbanen in a fiction loction; Aarhus International Airport, currently not excisting, but have for a long time been discussed. Until, or if this airport is going to be build the lines will cross in a Only Transfer station (Framlev), like the Copenhagen S-train station Danshøj. The E line interchanges with another line on all it's stations except three.
