OnyX (with a capital X) is a freeware multifunction utility for the Apple Macintosh (OS X only) developed by Titanium Software's Joël Barriere which is, according to magazine MacUser, among the best utilities available for that platform, partly because of its extensive help files. The program to do its job uses OS X's standard Unix utilities, allowing their control through a graphical user interface instead of through Terminal's command line.
