As of 2001 India census[2], Uravakonda had a population of 31,865. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Uravakonda has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 50%. In Uravakonda, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. Nearest town is Guntakal. Uravakonda has good transport facilities connecting to Guntakal, Anantapur and Bellary (Karnataka).

Actually uravakonda is very beautiul place and because it is having a big stone is situated in the center of the town.This covers nearly 100 villages .It is famous for weaving industry specially silk handloom or silk weaving industry. It is politically active place.

ATM SBI only A historical place like Pennahobalam is near Uravakonda at a distance of 10 kilometers. It is well connected to district headquarters Anantapur (52 km) and Bellary (Karnataka, 55 km) by road.
