URA! is a gallery and project space based in Istanbul, Turkey. It was founded by artist Mihda Koray, a native of Istanbul who studied at The Slade School of Fine Art in London, and is located on the first floor of the Misir Apartmani on Istiklal Avenue (Turkish: Istiklal Caddesi) in the Beyoğlu district of the city. URA! distinguishes itself as a gallery by drawing no distinction between visual artists, musicians, and writers.

[edit] History
URA! opened in April 2007 with the intention of merging of music, club culture and contemporary art within the same space, something that was very new in the Istanbul art scene.[1]
"The thing I miss about London while I'm here is the strange youth culture/subculture. It has a lot of power, and it's a constantly moving scene, be it exciting, pretentious, silly, attractive or sincere in its creative endeavours."[2]Mihda Koray
The first exhibition in April 2007 included work by Christian Egger, Adham Faramawy, Melissa Frost and Mihda Koray. The following exhibition, which ran as a parallel event during 10th Istanbul Biennial, featured the Slayer Pavilion and an additional curated music event headlined by the band Blurt, as well as reuniting the artists from the opening exhibition.[3] URA! has also shown London-based filmmaker Bronwen Parker-Rhodes in conjunction with London-based performance artist Theo Adams.
[edit] URA! Zine
In September 2007 URA! launched it's own newspaper, or zine. The first edition featured contributions by Ana da Silva of The Raincoats, Andrew Mania, Princess Julia, Adham Faramawy, Mark Aerial Waller, Max Sixteen, Thomas Hein, Ryan Styles, Slayer Pavilion, Russell Dean Stone, Melissa Frost, and Ulay Laysiepen, among others.[4]
[edit] Radio URA!
URA! has announced it's intention to branch into internet radio[5], broadcasting it's bands and it's artists sound art.
