Upwood

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Upwood, in Huntingdonshire (now part of Cambridgeshire), England, is a village near Bury south-west of Ramsey.

In September of 1917, the Royal Air Force started work on RAF Upwood, a massive air force base near the village used by both the RAF and the United States Air Force.

Two nature reserves, Lady's Wood and Upwood Meadows, lie near to the village; the latter is a National Nature Reserve.[1]

Upwood, Great Raveley and Little Raveley are three distinct, mainly agricultural villages, joined together as one parish since medieval times. The Upwood and Raveleys Community Archive Group formed in late 2006 to store images and the history of local life on a web based site for all to freely access.
