Upperton is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, near Airdrie and Cumbernauld, about 20 miles (30 kilometres) from Glasgow, formerly a part the neighbouring village of Longriggend.
Until recently it was a site of a large remand camp, which is now closed, and was inhabited mainly by the prison service workers. After the camp's closure it was settled by new inhabitants and the new name was given to eliminate associations with the camp.
