Upendra Mahato

Dr. Upendra Mahato (Nepali: उपेन्द्र महतो) is one of the richest and most successful people of Nepali origin. He currently resides in Russia where he is the president of the Russia-Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is the Honorary consul General of Nepal in the Republic of Belarus^[1]. He is president of Non Resident Nepalese Association, International coordination council (NRNA, ICC) ^[2]

Dr. Upendra Mahato, has been awarded with the title 'Manager of the Year-2007' in Russia, organised by Free Economic Society of Russia and International Academy of Management under the support of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation since 1997. Dr. Mahato is the first foreign national to receive the prestigious award awarded in Russia. He was awarded along with the title, a statuette of Catherine the Great, a diploma amidst, a Big Medal, and a gala ceremony as an honor held at Moscow President Hotel on 22nd April, 2008.^[3]

He is the first Nepali to get Doctor of Science in the technical field. He got his Ph. D and D.SC. from International Academy of Information Technology, Minsk, Belarus. He started gaining multinational experience prior 1992 A.D. in business and has more earlier in Social work.^[4]

In Nepal Dr. Mahato runs business activities in sectors viz. medicine, education, mass media and hydropower while oil products, TV production, road construction equipments production, medicine, banking and real estate outside Nepal. Dr. Mahato is taken as a pride to Nepal and Nepalese, for his outstanding career inside and outside the country. He is a GEM here.^[4]
