Template:Updateneed

[edit] Purpose
This template is used in articles to identify sentences or short passages which have outdated information or outdated sources. It produces the following appearance:
- This information needs update.[update needed]
Editors may use this template to "tag" material which they see as outdated information. The tag serves as a request for updating the statement and sourcing the update.
[edit] Usage
Enter this tag in the body of an article as a request for other editors to update information:
- to label a passage which has outdated information
- to label a citation or source which is outdated.
This helps with the categorisation of articles requiring updating.
The simplest way to add this template to an article is to copy and paste {{Updateneed}} immediately after the information or statement that is outdated.
If you have the time and ability to find an authoritative update and sorce, please do so. Then add it yourself, or correct the article text. After all, the ultimate goal is not to merely identify problems, but fix them.
Consider whether adding this tag in an article is the best approach before using it, and use it judiciously.
This tag must not be used when there is a dispute on factual accuracy, if that is the situation, {{Out of date}} must be used.
If the article has multiple outdated information, then rather than tagging each outdated statement, use {{Update}}
