Crest of the University of Toronto; the design was approved in 1917. It features the crown of George IV, who granted the university's original Royal Chrater in 1827. Beneath the crown lies two open books and a beaver.

Although this image is subject to copyright, its usage in Wikipedia can be justified as fair use for the following reasons:

  • The image is a faithful representation of the logo and serves as the primary visual identification for the University of Toronto article.
  • The image is used solely for informational purposes.
  • The image is rendered in small size and low detail. It is not suitable for unauthorized uses as copies made from it will be of very inferior quality.
  • The placement and usage of the image does not imply any official association with the University of Toronto.
