Unterseeboot 627

Unterseeboot 627 (often shortened to U-627) was a German submarine in service during World War II. It's hull was laid down on August 8, 1941 at the yards of Blohm & Voss in Hamburg and it was Commissioned on June 18, 1942 under the command of Kptlt. Robert Kindelbacher.

Unterseeboot 627 was sunk on October 27, 1942 just south of Iceland in position 59.14N, 22.49W by depth charges from a British B-17 Flying Fortress bomber from 206 Squadron RAF. This resulted in the loss of all (44) hands.
