Unterseeboot 539 was a U-boat of the Nazi Kriegsmarine.

  • U-539 was one of the few U-boats combatting with aircraft. On 4 October, 1943, she shot down a British Liberator aircraft of Squadron 120/V. Wing Commander R M Longmore, the commanding officer of the Squadron, was killed.[1]
