From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Unterseeboot 1062 (also known as U-1062) was a German World War II Type VIIF submarine commissioned on 19 June 1943. The U-1062 was one of four Type VIIF torpedo transport submarines; each could carry 39 torpedoes, and were used to re-supply other U-Boats at sea. U-1062 first served with 5. Unterseebootflottille (U-Boat Flotilla) for training and later served with 12. Unterseebootflottille from 1 January 1944 to 30 September 1944. U-1062 completed three torpedo transport patrols. U-1062 was sunk with all hands on deck on 30 September 1944 in Central Atlantic by depth charges from destroyer escort USS Fessenden, while returning from a torpedo delivery mission in the Far East.
