Before the establishment of Munich around 1158 an important river crossing existed over the Isar, the Föhringer bridge. Unterföhring was mentioned documentary for the first time 1180 as independent place (inferius Feringin). Unterföhring was a component to the high pin freesings counting former county Ismaning. Unterföhring is one of the important media locations of Germany. Already into the 1950er years took place the settlement of the RIVA photometric enterprises. 1962 took over the Bavarian broadcast (BR) and the Second Channel of German Television RIVA Studios. 1972 followed those Taurus film, the later Kirch group.
