Unreal Trusted Admin Network
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Unreal Trusted Admin Network (UTAN) is the ban management system used by the computer game Unreal Tournament 2004.
Originally started as an amateur project to allow people to share bans on their servers, it is now used globally and has been included in the official server release since version 3355. The software allows users to manage their own bans on one or more servers and, with enough evidence, submit them to be upgraded to global bans. Recently, in an effort to combat software piracy and cheat development, warez GUIDs and GUIDs associated with cheat developers such as Digital Death have been globally banned.
UTAN bans are divided into three categories: User bans, Gaming Internet Service Provider (GISP) bans and Global bans. User bans are valid only on servers run by the administrator who placed the UTAN ban. GISP bans will affect all servers associated with the GISP, and may be run by multiple administrators. Global bans will deny access to any UTAN enabled server.
