Unreal Tournament III
Well, uh... judging from the logo, should the article not be named Unreal Tournament III instead? -- Darklock 01:10, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Envy as Codename
I'm pretty sure Envy was just the codename, and UT2007 is the decided title. Any sources? Orange Goblin 19:40, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
- Well I'd say the offical website confirms it, Envy was just a codename. Orange Goblin 22:35, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

Links to weapons/game modes
I don't think these are needed for the most part - linking to existing weapons and modes (i.e. Sniper Rifle and Capture the Flag) is fine, but not to UT specific ones - there isn't much point in having a page on each weapon. Orange Goblin 00:29, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- I don't think there will be articles on all the specific Unreal universe weapons anytime soon. Of course with UT2007 coming out, along with the U, UT, and UC series, some weapons went through multiple incarnations, so maybe eventually. Still, the person who linked the weapons linked without looking, because the links that do work point to an article about a political coalition, a redirect, and a disambiguation page. In other words, unless somebody objects, they should be deleted and/or fixed. Actually it's probably smarter to link to real-life weapons in the descriptions of the weapons instead. Same for gametypes. That is my two pence worth. Retodon8 03:07, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- Real-life Deathmatch and Capture the Flag? But seriously, things like rocket launchers in Doom/Quake derived games (including UT) are quite a different beast than say, Stingers or RPG's, and don't get me started on chain-guns! 202.180.83.6 04:20, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
-
-
- Oooh, I'd like a real life Stinger! :) But of course you're right, the Unreal universe is barely comparable with its real life counterparts. Still, the general idea is the same, so I'm not convinced real life links wouldn't be useful. Retodon8 08:44, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Input
Why is there 'input' on the sidebar? It's a computer game, you can use whatever you want. 68.94.55.46 05:22, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- The so-called "Infobox" is meant for computer/video games in general, not used UT2007. Perhaps you have been lucky with the games you played; not all of them support every type of input. Older PC games only support keyboards (always supported for games I suppose), some support a mouse, some a joystick, some only that, some support 2 mice, or a unique controller... Retodon8 08:44, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
I have seen a rumor about the PS3 version will support keyboard and mouse. should we add that on as well? Neodarksaver 08:19, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Visual Features
Does anybody else think this section reads like a direct copy from Epic's website? Well, that's because it is - the full text was taken from here: http://www.unrealtechnology.com/html/technology/ue30.shtml RandyWang 05:31, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes I copied and pasted it!. Yes, I know it is wrong to copy from someone's copy right text. But why do you think I turned all text to Italic, and placed 2 pictures. So, it means this isn't copied, it's borrowing it, and also a link is refereing to the site.
- >x<ino 14:41, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
This is ridiculous. The source was never cited, nor referred to anywhere near the text - so how, exactly, was the reader supposed to know that it was copied from elsewhere? In this case copying was particularly unwise, since the text was essentially an advertisement for the Engine, and so is designed to hype it far beyond objectivity. The excerpt added nothing to the article at all. RandyWang 04:41, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Yea sure...mr know it all (it's an advertisement) . Because you are working for wiki.... Even if it wasn't citied, why do you think it was in Italic...DUH there as to be a reason for it. And yes there is a link for it, which was located in External Links. And how the hell is that an advert!? When people that work with Unreal Engine, decided to put some known information about the Unreal Engine's be an advert? HYPE!? PLease don't over act this out! Because if this thing is hype, it will be all over the damn internet and cheap forums. Not many people nor unreal players even think of going to this site. You don't even know what you are saying or doing!
- >x<ino 11:31, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- Italics doesn't automatically mean "quote"; where did you get that idea? Also, hype doesn't just mean fans making eachother crazy talking about how something is the best thing there ever was across the internet. Hyping also means a company using buzzwords to try and bring their product in a positive light, just like Epic is doing with their Unreal engine. And something I've mentioned before, but I'll do it again... calling people ignorant or whatever isn't doing anybody any good, not you either, trust me. You are just making up your own rules along the way, conveniently ignoring everything directed towards you. If you want people to respect your point of view, you need to respond to others' concerns instead of just repeating yourself without actually adding any proof/way of reasoning/explanation. Retodon8 00:25, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
The Unreal Technology website is designed to sell the engine to third parties - that's pretty much its point. The engine is, after all, a product to be sold: you can even buy licenses for the runtime on that very website. Copyright issues aside (which you've totally ignored, having failed to cite your source correctly and take only a small portion of the text), would you consider the text on the Ferrari website to be objective and hype-free? I bloody well hope not. RandyWang 01:42, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Oh please! How the hell is the website design to sell the engine. Making stuff up. If it's design to sell, how come I don't see all details I need to see if I want to get a copy of the graphic engine or use it for my own game!? The website is originally design, to destribute information regarding the works of the graphics engine. PERIOD!
Oh WOOW...Because I didn't state my cite source to the website, I have made a terrible mistake, and you have to revert it! YOu infact someof you fools don't really understand what Wikipedia still really means!
- >x<ino 01:52, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Here is where you buy the runtime: http://www.unrealtechnology.com/html/runtime/registered.shtml The website uses nothing but evocative language and hype to catch your interest in buying the runtime - how is it anything *but* a sales device? As for your use of sources, it's vital that you cite any source that you use, particularly on Wikipedia. People come here and expect the information to be unbiased, objective and accurate: if you copy and paste huge chunks of information from a sales brochure and fail to even acknowledge that you did so, you violate the trust the reader places in Wikipedia. Try turning in a History thesis without citing a single source, some time. RandyWang 05:12, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Trust me, hear my advice...you need to stop complaining about alot of things. Yes, that page you showed me, was for sales. But was the sale page originally meant for the whole section of the website? Beside if you read closey, they are selling Unreal Engine 2. And the Engine we are talking about now is Unreal Engine 3. Yes, the site was adding catch phrases to catch peoples eyes. Those catch phrases are making you dizzy. Because they are true! Also. Unreal Engine as powered up all Unreal games...so why shouldn't they list out all the details the Unreal Engine used to power up the games!?
- >x<ino 00:07, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- You say "Those catch phrases are making you dizzy. Because they are true!", which really makes it seem like you're buying into the hype. I don't see what listing or not listing all the details of the engine has anything to do with the fact that the site was made to help sell the Unreal engine. It just is; ask anyone! Retodon8 00:25, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Xino, you're clutching at straws. Taking a look at the rest of the site, including | pages like this should convince you that the site is specifically designed to sell copies of the Unreal SDK. You're not going to admit your fault, but the fact remains that the website is virtually nothing but an advertisement for the Unreal Engine to developers, and provides information on licensing for both versions 2 and 3. By copying so much text from a page like that, you violate the reader's trust in Wikipedia as an unbiased source of information, and you violate [Wikipedia's own fair use policy]. You don't have to admit fault, but the fact remains that you should not copy and paste information like that on Wikipedia. RandyWang 12:13, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- If you want to post that information on Wikipedia, why don't you rewrite it in your own words and add it to the Unreal Engine page? RandyWang 12:14, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- Edited URL in above text so that it didn't point to a 404 page. RandyWang 20:58, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Cheap page cannot be found! You still don't get half of the site don't you?
- >x<ino 15:32, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Remove the pipe from the end of the URL. It isn't that hard to work out. RandyWang 20:58, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Xbox 360?
Apparently now even Xbox.com thinks UT2007 will be out for the Xbox. [1] It isn't in any other up-and-coming-games-list on that site though. Now while I certainly wouldn't be surprise if that really happened, this is the only respectable source claiming such a thing. All other "big sites" as well as both Epic and Midway have never mentioned a 360 release, not even in the latest news from E3. I'll leave the article as is for now, but I suspect the title to be removed from the site soon. If so, the 360 link should yet again be removed. Maybe only to later return after an official announcement, as this could be the truth that leaked out somehow, but we'll see. Retodon8 18:53, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, check GameSpot's E3 06: Unreal Tournament 2007 Preshow Report for yourself, specifically "Official Movie 1". It's really recent, and the Xbox 360 is not confirmed. However, it still seems possible for it to happen, maybe even likely, so I moved it to "unconfirmed". I know Epic looked at the possibility, and it should be possible, but perhaps they are simple cautious announcing it. Perhaps it has a different reason, it still may not happen. Whatever, all just speculation. :) Retodon8 00:47, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- I removed it from "unconfirmed", since it's pretty officially confirmed now, not to be true, but to not be true. See BeyondUnreal's Update to UT2007 on XBox 360: Rumor Squashed. Again, Epic can flat-out deny development, and after watching the video again I actually suspect they're still trying to get it done, but Wikipedia isn't about rumors and speculation. Who are we to contradict the developers of the game without actual proof. Somewhat related, see UT2007: PC/PS3 Interoperability?. Retodon8 16:34, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

- It seems people are having "fun" moving the Xbox 360 and even PS3 back and forth. I'm not going to interfere with that anymore (for now). Team Xbox claims 360 players shouldn't give up on UT2007 appearing [2], and also Steve Polge never says the game isn't being developed for the 360, he just says it's not announced again. [3] I'm not sure what the reason for not telling it is, but it seems to be coming out sooner or later at least. According to the interview UT2007 is looking like it'll be done early next year, so it'll probably take at least that long for the 360 version as well. Retodon8 01:36, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

- I completely agree with Retodon8. Which leads me to question why on Earth is the Xbox 360 getting further support in this article? As stated in the second paragraph on this Wikipedia page: "The first version of the game will be the Windows version, with the Xbox 360 (unconfirmed) and PlayStation 3 versions following later." Why is the Playstation 3 version second to the X360 version when the X360 version isn't even confirmed? Also on the table to the right under "Media" why does it just blatany say Xbox 360? Last time I checked Xbox 360 wasen't even a Format. Shamo0 11:46, 03 August 2006 (EST)

- I have modified the page to reflect that the game was once stated to be coming out for Xbox 360, but more recently it has been stated that it is not coming out for the 360. Also, recent attempts to have another statement on the game being released for the 360 have yielded no confirmations. As such, I removed from the article the statement that the game was confirmed for the Xbox 360 or that it was coming out "unconfirmed" for the platform. Citations included. --Rodzilla 19:49, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- I eliminated part of one sentence that was not based on the truth. I removed the end of the final sentence in paragraph one. Someone had added a form of disclaimer to that sentence, but the disclaimer was not based on reliable truth. The person who added that information was referring to speculative comments made by the Vice-President of Epic Games, who was talking about "things that he had heard" and "things that may or may not happen." Obviously, that sort of information is not supposed to be included on the Wikipedia Encyclopedia that is based on honest truths.

- The Reference I provided at the end of the first paragraph features the Midway CEO, David Zucker, making it absolutely clear that the Xbox 360 would receive a version of Unreal Tournament 2007 that was published by Midway. Perhaps this is the reason why the Vice-Persident of Epic Games was not aware of the situation; he is not as high-ranking as the CEO of Midway--the company that will be publishing the game.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-

-
- Another possible explanation why Midway would clearly state that the game would be published for the Xbox 360 but Epic would say that they are not aware of it is because Epic may not be the company that Midway has assigned the responsibility of handling the development of the Xbox 360 version of the game. This would make perfect sense as to the reason why the videogame publisher called Midway would have a CEO saying that Unreal Tournament 2007 would be published for the Xbox 360, but Epic employees may not be aware of it, since they were not the ones who were assigned that responsibility.

- The other minor adjustment I made was to once again place the Xbox 360 in the list of platforms Unreal Tournament 2007 is being developed for. Personally, I think that the Linux and Macintosh versions should not be in the list of platforms supported, because Midway CEO, David Zucker, made no mention of those platforms. Only the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 were confirmed to be platforms that would receive version of Unreal Tournament 2007 published by Midway. -- mike_mgoblue User talk:68.61.44.215

- This user has been accused of vandalism several times (see talk page). Even if certain people may be more inclined to reliably say whether or not it's being released for Xbox 360, there's still the point that there's contradictory information out there. As such, it cannot be said in an encyclopedia that the game will be released for Xbox 360. I will be removing it in a few days unless others have opinions on this. Xbox.com had that info long time ago, same as OXM. They have changed the info. Later people an't sure if this game is gonna come out for ps3 or not. Later release news says it might come out 2007 for ps3 but late 2006 for PC. The E3 showcase, the Gamespot woman asked the UT2007 designer if it's coming out to 360. The guy said he doesn't know, it is only coming out for ps3 & pc for now.

I'd say 75% of the changes to this article are related to the XBox360. Removed, added, undone, restored, moved... Could it please be possible to stop changing the information until it is OFFICIAL. I mean, the last change was to move the tag "[ [xbox360] ]" from the beginning of a line to the end of it. This is an unecessary and totally useless change. I'm sick and tired of seeing changes to UT2007 article just related to that. Lyverbe 15:04, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

- An encyclopedia which Wikipedia is not a place for speculation. Confirmed facts are the only thing that should be on this page. I took the liberty or removing the Xbox 360 under platform since it isn't a confirmed platform. Since the "Xbox 360" version is a rumor it is not to applied as official in a encyclopedia. STOP EDITING IT IN AS OFFICIAL RETARDS. Once the rumor is squashed or true then it's able to be in encyclopedia format. Shamo0 19:47, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

What a load of rubbish speculation, it is coming to PS3 and PC this year November but recently Epic are not sure of the dates. The Xbox 360 version is REAL okay everyone? At E3 one of Gamespot's interviews was with Mark Rein himself and the interviewer asked him if the 360 version is in the works and he said yes it will come out but later. Stop this nonsense. Cheap vehicles
Judging by screenshots, the walkers strongly resembles the tripods from The War of the Worlds, the 2005 Spielberg movie in particular. for the Darkwalker. I havn't seen War of the Worlds yet, but does it really look like it:/ Again it kinda remesble the Strider from Half Life 2.
- >x<ino 17:03, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Again, there is a new add-on to the game. The Hoverboard. It lets player go into Third Person mode, just like Unreal Championship 2: Liandri Conflict. However, the player will be on a skateboard but it is a hoverboard. The designer said, players can use this to travel faster, they won't be able to fire while on it, if a shockcore/shockball attacks or touches the player on the hoverboard, the player will fall off it.
- >x<ino 17:06, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Once again, another cheapness...There will be a single player and tournament version. The single player will be like other single player like UT2003 & 2004. However there is a single campaign version, like Unreal Championship 2's Ascension Rites: Anubis features.
- >x<ino 17:08, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Cheapness? I don't understand your point. How do these make the vehicles cheap? -Kharn
Well, they're not really original ideas, they were taken from the novel/film by Half Life 2 and just been remade AGAIN by Epic.
- I know what you mean, but you've got to admit that they look very fun to drive. No game has given you the chance to drive tripods before (bar that HL2 mod) as far as I'm aware, and it looks like great death-ray entertainment. Makron1n 12:45, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, I hardly think Half Life 2 was original in that respect - they were lifted out of War Of The Worlds. But UT2007 using the same concept seems really unoriginal.
Shadows?
I find it funny that in the image that demonstrates the "real-time self shadowing on complex, intricate models" is clearly missing a shadow underneath the vehicle. Sure the vehicle has shadows on the model itself, but not on the ground beneath it. --RedACE
- Yeah... that appears to be a growing trend among FPS, at least to my knowledge. The moving objects--people, enemies, guns, powerups, vehicles, etc. are all almost perfectly rendered, with all the cool nifty modern features. But the backgrounds, walls, floors, ground, etc. are all bland, repeditive, often of a lower resolution, and generally are one or two levels of detail lower than the mobile objects. But the example givin in this article is even more ironic for the reason given above.... --Ourai 07:12, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- Which is funny, given Epic's "grand demonstration" of the Unreal 3 engine at the Fall 2005 E3. The video should still be around on the 'net somewhere. Torinir ( Ding my phone My support calls E-Support Options ) 18:25, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
No PS3 Version?
The Playstation 3 was not even mentioned by name in the recent Unreal Tournament 2007 announcement about the game being delayed until 2007. Many people believe the PS3 version has been cancelled, just like WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007 and so many of the other Playstation 3 games.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mike mgoblue (talk • contribs)
- What do you mean many people believe the PS3 version has been cancelled becuase this is the first I'm hearing about it. In an IGN interview Mark Rein and Jeff Morris talk ALOT about the PS3 version. Basing my judgement off of this interview I say the PS3 version is still alive and kicking. - It's likely delayed. Word on the street is Q1 2007 for a release date for the PC version of UT2007. I'm pretty sure the other versions will be delayed as well. The Huxley release is also rolled back to late Q1 or early Q2 2007, suggesting a possible engine issue. That would not surprise me either, given the bugs in the Unreal 2.5 engine that remain unfixed. Linux and Mac as Platforms
Currently the only thing that is confirmed for the game is that the tools are being released for Mac and Linux, not the game itself. While this is hinting that the game might also be released on these platforms, it's hardly a confirmation. As such, I believe that the listing of Linux and Mac in the game's infobox should be removed until the game itself is confirmed on those platforms. --Rodzilla 19:56, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

If you can cite the different stance from Epic, feel free to add that as a counter-argument or note it as a conflicting stance, but leave the cited interview with the game's publisher as-is. - the folowing is a lis of worldwide sales for the consoles. the xbox has been out for a year longer. The ps3 can be found in a huge pile at my local bestbuy, and the wii is sold out. the wii is the leader when you figure the whole extra year for xbox.
- xbox 360 -- 10.4 million
- Wii -- 3 million+
- PS3 -- Over 1,214,762

- uhh...I would have to say the leader in gaming systems is the PC, seeing as how simply 1 game has over 8 million subscribers.
