UNPROFLEET

In the Axis of Time trilogy by John Birmingham, UNPROFLEET or The Multinational Taskforce is the name of the fleet sailing under the command of Admiral Phillip Kolhammer, (United States Navy) that disappeared on January 15, 2021 off the coast of East Timor, and was sent back in time to June 2, 1942 at the height of World War II creating an alternate universe. In this alternate universe the majority of the ships that survived the "Transition" joined the war effort on the side of the Allies, although at least four ships were not deposited at the same time and/or place as the taskforce's command elements. The final destination of every vessel in the task force is now accounted for with the exception of at least 2 American nuclear submarines, it is unknown whether they were even sent back in time or not.
The Amanda L Garrett is named in homage to the heroine of James H. Cobb's Amanda Lee Garrett novels that feature, besides the title heroine, stealth cruisers, armed hovercraft, and a great deal of bleeding edge technology. Cobb gives his name to the class, and interestingly enough a Parchim-class Frigate named the Sutanto, makes an appearance in Weapons of Choice.
