[edit] Re: Collaboration
Well, thank you for the nice words. It is encouraging. However, I don't quite understand when you say that you have used my template. Maybe you can clarify on this.
Also, I see that you've nominated Anand (2004) for a GA. I wasn't quite sure if my efforts on it would make the cut esp. because of the limited resources for Telugu films.
And yes, I'm a Telugu-speaking editor primarily working in the English Wiki.

- Oh, is it? Since, I'm a month-old newbie, I know less of the past and I'm just gaining ground in here. Meeting new people and yes, I love collaborations. But, I'm afraid if I'd be active for a month coz I'll be traveling and wouldn't really have great access/time to Wiki.
- My aim is primarily improving articles that I've substantial knowledge and/or affinity towards. If I can get any particular article to B-class, I should be okay coz of the limited resources, as I said.

Hello, I was wondering if you can copyedit the Parineeta article. I wanted to nominate it for FA status. If you can spare some time, that'd be great! Beyond this, I intend to submit this for a peer-review and then based on that go ahead with the FA nomination. Thanks and regards, Mspraveen 06:08, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unnale Unnale
Hello, how've you been doing? I was going through the GA review of the article and I checked and saw that most of the required edits have been completed. However, I completed the image fair use rationales that I felt was needed. Is there anything else before you nominate it for a GA? Do let me know if you need any assistance in this. Best regards and season's greetings! Mspraveen (talk) 15:31, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sivaji
Hello, how've you been doing? Hope you are keeping well. This is about you putting up Sivaji article for nomination.
Firstly, I was waiting to complete my edits on this article and then put it up for nomination. When I finished these edits a couple of days back, I saw that it was already nominated by you. No wonder I did not realize this because you hadn't put the GA nominee template in the article discussion page. Maybe, you can remind yourself of the same the next time around for other articles. Also, maybe it is a good practice to inquire with the currently active editor of that article before nominating one.
Best regards, Mspraveen (talk) 14:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

- Hello, regarding the same article, I wonder what the image of the silver jubilee function is doing in the article without any relevant context. Unless this is addressed, it will be a serious hindrance to the article's quality or GA assessment. Do you think you come up with the relevant content and add it appropriately? Also, I feel that having the the image sized down to 200px would be better. What say? Best regards, Mspraveen (talk) 13:00, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your nice words. However, if you were to bring the silver jubilee to my attention, I would have written up some content and added the image myself. Maybe, you could have avoided putting up the image in between the reviews making it irrelevant to external editors/reviewers. Don't you think so? :) Anyways, for now, I've corrected this and have a sentence written about it and relocated the image appropriately. Due to the vast popularity of this film, I'm sure at the time when you put this up for a GA nomination, you must have faced a lot of edit wars and junk write up. Now, that when I saw the article to be stable, I began editing this. Using the failed GA notes by User:Elcobbola, I started cleaning up the article.
I hope it passes the GA. My GA charm has been working the first time I work on any nomination. ;) Lets hope for this too this time around. Best wishes and regards, Mspraveen (talk) 14:23, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Anand (2004)
In future, please follow the instructions when nominating an article for GA (or FA) status:
[edit] How to nominate an article
Before nominating, ensure that you are a registered user and have the time to implement changes or clarifications requested by a reviewer.
If you believe an article to be good according to the Good article criteria:
- List the article at the bottom of the relevant section below using the syntax: # ArticleName ~~~~ with an edit summary of "Nominating ArticleName"
- Add 2008-06-11 to the nominated article's talk page.
It's important to list this on the talk page of the article too.
Thanks

[edit] Preity Zinta FA
Hi there. The Preity Zinta article has recently achieved A-class status. Due to the wealth of support I have decided to now nominate for an FA class article which I believe and judging by the comments of others is pretty much up to. In my view it is better than some existing FA actor articles. I would therefore be very grateful if you could give it a final review in your own time and leave your comments and views at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Preity Zinta. Thankyou, your comments are always valuable. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Remember to comment more on that actual content of the article and why you think it is FA quality rather than stating the positive impact an FA would have an other articles. Thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:13, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:UnnaleUnnale27.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:UnnaleUnnale27.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. How've you been?
No, unfortunately I have no new projects. I've been working on tha Salman Khan article and created a nnumber of articles. Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards was successfully updated in DYK!:) Waiting for Dwaipayanc to see what's going with the Zinta article. He helps me very much with this article. Now it's a B in two Wikiproject and an A only in one. Quite sad, after months of work.
What about you? Are there some new projects? new GAs? Regards, Shahid • Talk2me 22:21, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
The best thing you can do is clean up Tamil films of the 1980s etc, Compared to the Bollywood lists they are terrible. These should be important for Tamil film on wikipedia. The films need sorting and putting in order in the tablrd and info on the director or cast added etc. Unfortunately nobody has tended to them yet ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 22:37, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- How come Unnale Unnale did not pass GA? It's a pitty. I was sure it would. I think you should address the concerns raised on the talk page. It's not a big deal. These are very minor problems. Shahid • Talk2me 22:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Another example of a quality article which is still a B. Surely you proposed it for a GA? ANyway if you could fix the titles for Tamil film of the 1980s like 1990s and 2000s this would make a big difference ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 22:56, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
I thought you might have had the decency to respond to me personally seems as I've also helped copy editing your Unnale Unnale article ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 13:07, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes me too!!! Unfortunately it only appears to be you working on them and they are in a terrible state. I've just added 1980, i think I'll scrap the others and start from scratch. I think these are very important to construct Tamil cinema and get some kind of framework behind them. Eventually we could split them by year and have detailed pages on Tamil film by year but first things first ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 13:17, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes could you just add all the loose titles on Tamil films of the 1970s to the tables. The info can be added later. I'll be willing to sort out the 80s one. Its more urgent that these pages are cleaned up, particularly as I am aiming for every Tamil film on wikipedia to have the Tamil cinema template eventually connecting to the years in tmail film like Bollywoof. [edit] Your work on Tamil films
Hi! I briefly examined some articles on Tamil films, and it looks like you are the main person who is adding English translations of the titles, which is terrific. I wonder if you could do one little thing differently. Instead of using English, which goes to a disambiguation page, please use English. Otherwise I have to disambiguate the links individually (I work on Wikiproject Disambiguation, and one of the things I've taken on is to keep English clear of incoming links). Thanks! [edit] Future films
Hey, you've probably noticed that I've been proposing a few film articles for deletion. I've accidentally marked a few false positives, as it's not always possible to determine if a film is in production when it's not on IMDb. I was wondering if you could help review some Indian films (as that appears to be your expertise) so I can avoid such mistakes. Would you be interested in that? Geez! Thanks! Good that an article on Sivaji reached the GA finally! It is a pity that many editors from India seem to indulge in self-vanity/vandalism of articles that are highly popular. In the future, if you could use Film instead of FilmsWikiProject, I'd be very grateful. Although the latter one automatically redirects to the former, it has been deprecated, and we're trying to phase out its usage as task force tagging slowly occurs over the next year or so. Knowing that it's not being added to new articles would put me greatly at ease. Thanks! Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 04:07, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Unreleased films - Ishaa Koppikar
Universal Hero
Sorry if I appear to be a pedantic pain, but the reason I keep reinserting the unreleased films is because it is bona fide information, regardless of whether the films are rumoured or what have you. Look at it from where I'm coming from: I spent a good year looking for all Ishaa's films, Hindi and South Indian, and I went down a lot of garden paths, followed loads of wild goose chases and found tons of red herrings. I wanted to make sure that an Ishaa Koppikar filmography was as complete as possible so that others interested in her films wouldn't suffer the same frustrations as I did. So, let's say someone hears about 'Ek Tha Dil Ek Thi Dhadkhan' and starts trying to find it on dvd or vcd, is it not valid information to say that the film was never released (or never made or whatever)?
Maybe the main text should be edited to reflect the confusion, I don't know.
I have to say I'm a deep shade of green with envy that you met Ishaa. If you see her again, mention my name will you!
Regards Chris —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris750 (talk • contribs) 17:10, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
I'll take your advice and tidy things up to make the information more precise. I'd edit other things if I had the same knowledge and interest that I've acquired for Ishaa Koppikar. It's finding the time really.

[edit] Kamal Haasan
Dear Universal Soldier,
Thank you very much for your message and your kind words. I appreciate the fact that you are paying genuine attention to this article at a time when no one else, it seems, is putting the required effort into it. If I had the luxury of leisure I would certainly do much more to brush this piece up, but, unfortunately, heavy lecturing commitments this year means I will be taking a lengthy hiatus from Wikipedia. But I am confident you can contribute very meaningfully yourself to this article.
I went through the article cursorily the other day and decided to focus briefly on the first paragraph in the Kamal article. As you would know so well, the first (introductory) paragraph is a key component of any encylopaedic article; it functions as an introductory passage that conveys to the lay reader a basic, overall idea about the subject it deals with, and contains information that is outstanding about the subject (i.e., why this subject is important; e.g., "... is an award-winning actor..."; "first man on a wheelchair to ascend Mount Everest"; "the longest-serving monarch in the world", etc.). If possible, a good introductory paragraph should be able to capture the interest of the reader, but this is secondary. An introductory paragraph should not contain information that best belongs elsewhere, and should dispense with hyperbolic statements (e.g., "this actor can act in 10 different roles" -- a fact that is not unique, not a key piece of information about the subject in general, and is something that can be mentioned elsewhere in the article). As with any other part of the article, it is important that ctiations/references are relevant, credible and correctly-placed.
Given these criteria, the introductory paragraph for Kamal Haasan was in poor form to my eyes. To list a few of the issues: there is that hyperbolic statement about Dasavaratham at the tail of the paragraph that could be mentioned later; citations are made at odd, meaningless junctures of the article (see, e.g., citation [1] and [2]); it is uncertain that these citations are credible or are related to the sentence in which they are placed (they seem to come from a website called "Galatta" which doesn't sound serious to me... it sounds like a celebrity tabloid article, rather than, say, a newspaper article from The Hindu); details pertaining to which year he had won the National Awards and for what services could be saved for a later section (it suffices to say, for example, that he is an award-winning actor or that he has won four (or five?) National Awards for acting); and finally, the paragraph could be written in a more succinct, more digestible way. I amended the first paragraph with these issues in mind.
As for the lengthy filmography section that I removed, please refer to this comment in the discussion page.
Most editors do not discuss their edits or the goals they have in mind for an article. So I sincerely appreciate this opportunity for dialogue that you have made possible. Thanking you, very sincerely, AppleJuggler (talk) 02:09, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fashion (film) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:59, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Kamal Haasan
Hi there, thank you for requesting me to join your collaborative effort.
I'll contribute my might..mostly in terms of copyediting and adding references. However, my style of work usually goes with creation of new content and adding suitable references simultaneously. With this article, it is going to be a bit different though. Sadly, my lack of total inclination towards this article might delay my efforts a bit.
I hope to get to this article's discussion page and check whats going on there and I hope that the work can be divided among the collaborators to ensure quicker progress. Something like, each working on a section.
Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 14:53, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sadhu Miranda
Sorry fella came across this in the new pages. The tone is not suitable for the encyclopedia and is somewhat confusing that a brilliant dropout is a "dullard". You;ll have to reword this a bit mate. [edit] Kollywoodtoday images
After taking a look through the images in Category:Images from Kollywoodtoday.com, it appears that in several cases, these are actually screenshots or are promotional images, and are not actually owned by Kollywoodtoday. Looking through the site, it appears that many other images on the site fit into this category. In fact, their disclaimer and terms and conditions make no claim that they own all the images on that site. In light of this, I'm going to have to delete all the images in that category. If you have reason to dispute this, please let me know on my talk page right away. Thanks! --Yamla (talk) 00:35, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Note that we had a similar problem with bollywoodblog images. --Yamla (talk) 00:35, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Filmfare Best Actor Award (Tamil) — inconsistency
In this article, it says this award was incepted in 1992. But, according to the Kamal Haasan filmography page, Kamal had received this award in 1981 for Raja Paarvai. AppleJuggler (talk) 07:28, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
