University of the Western Cape, Faculty of Dentistry

The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of the Western Cape is considered the largest dental school in South Africa offering undergraduate degrees in Dentistry (BChD), Dental Therpy (BOH)and BSc in Dental Science. It also awards the diploma in Oral Hygiene Dipl. OH) .

The Faculty also awards the MCHD degrees in the following specialities: Orthodontics, Periodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prothodontics, Community Dentistry and Oral Pathology. The faculty awards postgraduate diplomas , MSc in Dental Science as well as PhD in different aspects of Dentistry.

It is well known for its BChD program in Dentistry which is a 5 year professional degree course equivalent to DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery). The faculty's graduates are highly respected nationally and internationally.

The new faculty of Dentistry at the University of the Western Cape was formed by merging the former University of Stellenbosch, School of Dentistry and the University of the Western Cape, Faculty of Dentistry in 2004.
