University of Wisconsin-Extension

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The University of Wisconsin-Extension, UW-Extension, is the outreach arm of the University of Wisconsin System. Through UW-Extension, all Wisconsin people can access university resources and engage in lifelong learning, wherever they live and work.

Fundamental to this mission are UW-Extension's partnerships with the 26 UW System campuses, 72 Wisconsin counties, tribal governments, and other public and private organizations. Fulfilling the promise of the Wisconsin Idea, UW-Extension extends the boundaries of the university to the boundaries of the state and helps the university establish mutually beneficial connections with all its stakeholders.

UW-Extension's main office is located in Madison. In addition, it has Cooperative Extension offices in every Wisconsin county, continuing education offices on all 26 UW System campuses, and Small Business Development Centers at the 13 four-year campuses. UW-Extension is also responsible for Wisconsin Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Television.

Effective May 1, 2006, UW-Extension's chancellor is also responsible for the University of Wisconsin Colleges, 13 freshman/sophomore campuses located throughout the state.
