University of Windsor Faculty of Law

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The University of Windsor Faculty of Law, located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was opened in 1969, and places particular focus on trans-border legal issues, social activism and access to justice.[1]

The school focuses on "access to justice" and social justice initiatives. This is reflected in the school's unique admissions policy. Seven factors are considered and weighted equally:
1) Undergraduate performance: Undergraduate GPA, academic awards and prizes, the level of degrees obtained;
2) Work experience: Qualifications, vocational skills, organisational and administrative skills;
3) Community involvement: religious/athletic/social/community service activities;
4) Personal accomplishments: Extracurricular activities, hobbies, artistic or athletic accomplishments, language skills;
5) Career objectives of the applicant and how they intend to employ their legal education;
6) Special personal considerations: illness, bereavement, family responsibilities, other special circumstances;
7) LSAT score. [2]

Windsor Law offers a joint law/MBA programme through the Odette School of Business, and a joint LLB/JD programme through the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. [3]
