The University of Southern Nevada (USN) is a private, non-profit university located in the city of Henderson, Nevada with a satellite campus located in South Jordan, Utah. It was founded by Dr. Harry Rosenberg, enrolled its first class in January 2001 and was originally called the Nevada College of Pharmacy. The university offers a Doctor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration degrees. USN's programs are unique in that they utilize a block system in which students focus on one topic at a time (rather than enrolling in multiple courses concurrently).
The University of Southern Nevada is licensed to operate in the State of Nevada by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education. It has been granted Candidate status by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Candidacy is not accreditation nor does it ensure eventual accreditation. Candidate for Accreditation is a status of affiliation with the Commission which indicates that the institution has achieved initial recognition and is progressing toward accreditation.
The USN College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The college has an institutional membership in the American Association of College of Pharmacy (AACP).
the USN College of Nursing holds Provisional Approval status with the Nevada State Board of Nursing. The college has been granted Candidacy status by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC).
