The University of Southampton Law Society is a student society open to members of the University of Southampton.
The University of Southampton Law Society, or 'LawSoc', is the official student law society run by students for students. The Society's aim is to ensure the support, both academically and socially, of its members so that they can get the very most out of university.
First and foremost, the Law Society is the voice of all undergraduate, postgraduate, international and mature law students. Certain members of the committee chair/attend the Staff/Student Liaison Committee Meetings and the School Board Meetings and communicate any problems, issues or questions to those in charge of running both the law school and the university. This often results in favourable resolutions. This also works the other way around, so that committee members disseminate any information staff want informally communicated to the students.
Elections to the Society Committee are held once a year usually mid-way through the Christmas term.

[edit] Sports
The Law Society runs many sports including rugby, netball, cricket, football and tennis with participation in intramural competitions. The Law Rugby Team (the 'Legal Eagles'), led by President Mike Cooper and Captain Jeremy Barker, reached the semi-finals of the intra-mural Cup. The Law Society also traditionally holds the Banners Memorial Football Match in memory of law student Arjit Bannerjee.
[edit] Careers
It is the Law Society's job to encourage all law students to attend beneficial events that the law faculty or Careers Advisory Service organise, such as the Law Fair, Inter-Semester Break Program, workshops and various talks. Many of our projects and events are sponsored by local, national or international law firms.
